Welcome to a brand-new school year! For the new incoming students, I’m Mrs. Smith, your Social Studies teacher. I’ve been teaching here at Immaculate Conception for almost 20 years, and I still get excited every fall to meet my new classes.
For those new and those who know me, you may not realize that I love hiking, camping, skiing, archery, and trying out different kinds of art. Most of all, I love history—especially local history and the stories that make our community special.
In our classroom, learning won’t just be about reading and writing. You’ll also get to role play, create projects, and share your ideas in fun and creative ways. I want you to explore history in a way that helps you think, imagine, and connect it to your own life.
I can’t wait to see the amazing things you’ll bring to class this year. Let’s make it a great one together!

Mrs. Smith attended a graduate course on the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in Valley Forge, PA. This class was an intensive exploration of women's roles in the context of time periods, beginning in colonial times through issues today. Much of the focus of the study involved Supreme Court cases and the inclusion of female Justices.
